Ireland as the Business Location of Choice

ICT Ireland and PharmaChemical Ireland – two of IBEC’s key business associations which represent the technology and pharmaceutical sectors in Ireland – launched two important reports for their respective sectors, both entitled Why Ireland should be your location of choice.
The reports, aimed at foreign corporate decision-makers, detail the positive experience of the multinational companies operating here, and include first-hand accounts from the heads of their Irish operations.
Senior executives within the technology and pharmaceutical sectors set out clearly why they believe Ireland remains a uniquely attractive location in which to do business.
Both reports were launched at a press conference on Monday 5th November and were well received. Lionel Alexander, VP Manufacturing, HP and Chair of ICT Ireland and Julie O’Neill, General Manager, Gilead Sciences and Chair of PharmaChemical Ireland summarised many of the features that make Ireland attractive to overseas business, including:
1) A very competitive corporate tax rate of 12.5%;
2) Excellent third-level graduates – Ireland generates third-level
3) graduates at 9% above the European average;
4) An emerging research base, with plans to invest a further €2.5 billion
5) before 2013, doubling the number of PhDs in the country;
6) A reputation for flexibility and responsiveness second to none;
7) A robust legal system that makes Ireland one of the best places in the world to protect intellectual property.
