SerCom Solutions supports Irish Olympic Hopeful
February 2008
SerCom Solutions is delighted to have made a contribution to the training fund of Irish Olympic hopeful, Michelle Carey, in her final push to achieve the Olympic qualifying time for 400 metre hurdles. Michelle has reached a high level in athletics, including qualification for the World Championships in 2008 without ever having the opportunity to operate as a full-time athlete, as most people at this level do. She has always co-ordinated training with either work or studies and this year, she wants to be able to give athletics her undivided focus in her quest to qualify for and be successful at the Olympics in Bejing. This requires financial support to account for her loss of earnings in this pursuit of her dream to represent her country at the highest level.
As well as day-to-day living expenses, athletics requires considerable financial investment to train and compete at the highest level. These include:
- Regular physiotherapy, massage and other medical support for injury prevention and performance enhancement
- Membership costs for use of training facilities
- Warm weather training camps during the winter and prior to the season to allow for higher quality training
- Additional nutritional requirements
This winter, Michelle had a great opportunity to train in Australia with double World Champion, Jana Rawlinson. This was of huge benefit to her to train with the World’s best and was well worth the investment! Anybody interested in helping Michelle with her training costs can contact her at m_carey400h@hotmail.com
