SerCom Introduces PDF 417 Barcoding
February 2008
The PDF417 barcode is a two-dimensional, high-density symbology capable of encoding text, numbers, files and actual data bytes.
Conventional barcodes get wider as more data is encoded. 2D barcodes make use of the vertical dimension to pack in more data. 2D barcodes have become possible as auto scanning CCD and laser scanners have replaced the original 'light pen' type of scanner.
At this time most conventional CCD and Laser scanners cannot read 2D barcodes but this has changed, as Barcode Manufacturers have introduced the first of the range of low cost combined 1D/2D scanners.
SerCom Solutions now have 2D barcoding in place through utilization of mySAP ERP , BarOne/Bartender Professional 8.01 software. We also have a range of scanning equipment capable of capturing 1D and 2D formats to further extend the product identification capability of our process in support of customer requirements.
