New Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Ireland – Announced and Potential!
March 2009
Despite the difficult global economic backdrop, Ireland enjoyed an FDI boost with the announcement that computer giant Hewlett-Packard is expanding its global service desk in Ireland, and is to recruit highly skilled graduates immediately to fill 300 multilingual technical support roles. The expansion will also feature a research, development and innovation capability to support the global service desk. HP has also said there is the potential for additional development and jobs at its Leixlip facility.
Leixlip also plays host to Intel's base in Ireland, and it was recently reported that the chip giant is working on finalising a proposal that could see it invest around EUR1 billion in its operations there.
SerCom Solutions has two operations in Ireland (Dublin and Limerick), together with two in Poland, six in the USA and a procurement unit in Shenzhen, China.
